Birthday Bash

Well, its offical I am partied out, in a good way. My birthday party was a huge success and I tried to count everyone that came so I could have a total of guest's, the number I came up with was 84. But, remember I was so tired I could hardly move at the end of the day, so I might not have remembered everyone. This was the biggest and bestest birthday party in my whole life and I am blessed that my children worked so hard to make it happen.

I had some Dove chocolates in my bedroom and while the kids were watching t.v. in there someone noticed them and decided he was hungry and started eating them, I don't know for sure if other kids helped eat the chocolates or not but most of the bag was gone when I discovered what was going on. This grandchild just said well I was hungry. We had a good laugh about that.

So, now on to whatever comes next.

Tuesday when our Relief Society had a dinner for the anniversary of the organization of the Relief Society, someone asked me if I had heard about Gloria Singleton and I said no she hasn't been home lately. So, Thursday I called Elizabeth Thomas and talked to her. The sad news is that Gloria has cancer. She found a lumb in her breast and when it was taken out it was found that cancer had spread to other parts of her body. She is currently living at Cathie's place. She is having treatment but don't know if it will do any good.

We are having beautiful sunny skies yesterday and today, but a storm is coming this weekend. I didn't pay much attention to the weather report, just take it as it comes. Our springs are crazy anyway.

This evening we had our Relief Society Birthday dinner. Lots of good food and fun things to do. My fun thing was to visit with the lady and her husband who are the Family History people in our Ward. We could have had more people there to help eat the good food but some never come to things like that. One couple in our ward come to dinners but hardly ever to Sunday meetings. He's got health problems and he's kind of grumpy, his wife his very nice, kind of quiet. One lady came who has just become active in the church lately and really enjoyed the evening.
Found a power cord for my old flat bed scanner today, now I can use it to scan lots of old pictures and papers that have to do with geneology. Well, that is all for now. Good night. Gma

Hi, its another sleepless night. Had too much on my mind to sleep good this week. But taking a nap after coming home from my morning at the Jordan River Temple could be a big part of it.
I have now done the baptism, and other ordinances for 3 women ancesters on my father's family and have the baptisms done for 3 men. Now to find more names to get done. We lost a lot of people who have worked in the JRiver Temple for many years, most of them will be working in the new Draper Temple. It makes it easier to find a good parking place but makes us short on Temple workers. We do have about 4 or 5 new trainees and that will help.
Teaching 7 to 8 year old kids in Primary is a challange and I'm a little rusty but its coming along. We have a mixture of nationalities, one Somoan, one Philipine, and one part Philipine or ?, and the rest Anglos. They don't hold still much and its a challange to get the lesson done without a lot of interruptions but they are cute and one is getting Baptized this afternoon. He's got the cutest dimples when he smiles, and he knows he's a charmer.
My brother, Howard (Butch to family), has his youngest son, Alan, arriving home from his mission this weekend. He will find things changed since he left 2 years ago. His mother died, his dad remarried. His brothers are wondering how much he has changed and will he want to dress like he did before he left on his mission.

Friday. Its been a busy 3 days and lots of sore leg muscles. On Wednesday I had to take Ruthie to the University Hospital and we had to be there at 7am. I got up at 5am. After the check-in and all the details taken care of she was taken to surgery at 9am. She had to have a tumor on her pituatory glad removed. The process is to go up through the nasal passage into the frontal part of her brain to get to the gland. I went and had breakfast and then sat around in the waiting room for hours. After lunch and more waiting she was finally in NCCU and awake, that was about 2pm. After talking to her for a few minutes I made the long trek back to the parking garage. After looking on all 4 levels of the garage and not finding my car I gave up and asked for help. Security came and we drove around the garage for a while looking for where I parked. It was there, just not where I thought I had parked it. By then it was 3pm and I was very tired and felt very dumb. Ruthie is doing fine and will probably be let out on Sunday.
The Temple workers who live in the Draper TEmple area and have been called to work in that TEmple have been leaving the Jordan River TEmple and it sure is sad to know that some of the people I have gotten to know are gone and some will leave soon.
I got the baptisms done for 3 men and 3 women from my father's side of the family done yesterday and now will get the other ordinances done.
Just a beginning, but feels good.
We have finally seen our snow melt and the sun has been shining today. The only snow left is on the shady parts of the yards. I am so glad to see it go.
I would love to have the time and money to just take off and make a long trip to visit all of you one after another, but not to be, haven't won any jackpots or lotteries lately. But know that if I could I would make the trip, I miss all of you and send my love to you.

Gloria Singleton called last night and asked if I could give her a ride to Church this morning. I did and I think she is getting more comfortable with attending. There are a lot of people she doesn't know but still many that she does know. My primary class was a little better today, could it be that the 3 kids that wiggle and interrupt me weren't there? could be. And they remember things from past lessons so I must be getting some information to them.
Another storm front is here but not snow yet in the valley, could come in the next day or so.
Jeremy's kids kept me company this afternoon while he was downstairs trying to get some school work done. Those two have quite a relationship and play pretty good together.

Going to check into two jobs tomrrow. One is with the U.S. Census and the other is a small insurance office dealing with Senior Citizens and their health insurance. Don't know about that one, but will give it a try.

Big brother, Kirt has a birthday coming up on Tuesday, so all you siblings remember to give him a birthday greeting. If you don't know how old he will be, figure it out, he was born in 1961.

Just read your lastest entry in the blog area. The pictures are great of the hawk and the snow. I also want to let Ivy know how awesome her project looks, I can see it took a lot of work. I have been typing my Mom's journal this morning, now if I was half the gardner she was my place would be awesome. But I'm not and it isn't.
I have been very low on money this last week or so and ran out of bread, peanut butter and butter, so have had to improvise and acutally cook something. I checked my blood sugar yesterday and it was in a good range although one of my meds is out and can't be refilled until Wednesday. But without all the bread I haven't eaten it worked out okay.
I'll still be the Compassionate Service person even though I'm now a Primary teacher. It doens't take up a lot of time so not a big deal. The Primary is going to be a big deal, the kids are nice and wiggly, which is normal.
Josie and Oliver Price are planning on going on a mission. It is a little delayed because he had to have a shunt put into a blocked artery, but they told him he can go anywhere he can get his medications. They will be great missonaries, and I will miss them a lot.
